Why two unit systems?

Most of the world reports lab results in SI units (for example, glucose in mmol/L), while the United States commonly uses conventional units (glucose in mg/dL). Each analyte converts by a fixed factor — glucose, for instance, multiplies by 0.0555 to go from mg/dL to mmol/L. Browse every range in both systems on the test reference.
